Focusing helps us get beyond Trauma and dis-Stress
What’s my why for Focusing?
After years of suffering with feeling stuck, feeling overwhelmed, feeling doomed (honestly), after immersing myself in modern approaches to alleviating trauma, it was when I found Focusing that I felt any part of the relief I’d been searching for for so long. Today, my practice is organized around introducing and facilitating Focusing.
What is Focusing?
That is such a great question. Integral to Focusing is a view that life is a process with momentum to move forward when given supportive conditions. In practice, a session looks like me and a person in a conversational space on Zoom, exploring what comes in their inner experience, using words while understanding that we’re in contact with something in them that is perhaps indistinct, something difficult to find the right words for, and being with it, just as it is, in all its complexity. We’re not imposing anything on what’s there, not doing anything to it. Transformation of the distressed and stuck states spontaneously emerges as we hold space with it, together. What comes is unpredictable, but not unexpected. Once it shows up, it makes complete sense; we just could never have predicted it in advance.
As I said on my “About” page, Focusing is the most gentle, respectful, kind, empowering, and effective approach to coming to feel whole that I’ve ever experienced.
Named by some wholeness and others (w)healing, I call it (w)helping people feel safe, all the way down, so they can move with purpose into a life of vitality.
My clients arrive seeking relief from:
- anxiety,
- overwhelm,
- chronic pain,
- difficulty focusing,
- autoimmune disorders,
- hardship overcoming obstacles,
- difficulty mobilizing on plans and dreams,
- and more,
and leave with greater ease, and hope.
Mine is a small practice of motivated clients.
Fee: $100 per 50-minute session.
Sessions are currently being offered remotely, on Zoom, or in-office for people who live locally.
